The Skinny

@. Riptide

Loss

6-5

The Cruisers made their NSA debut this weekend, and Jim Barr made his pitching debut... both turned out to be a success! We jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead through 2 innings. We were unable to score another run thereafter. Riptide plated 3 runs in the 3rd and 3 runs bottom of the 6th to take the victory. Cruisers went 1-2-3 in the top of the 7th including two line-outs to 3b... Line-outs was the story in this game, as the Cruiser had 7 lineouts in this game. UGH.

@ Team Bullet

Win

20-10

The loss sent us to the losers' bracket to play Team Bullet. Again the Cruisers jumped out to a small lead to start things off, but saw everytnig tied at 4-4 a piece after 3 innings. a big 4th inning saw the Cruiser plate 8 runs. We went on to Mercy Rule Team Bullet in 6 innings (10+ runs after 5th inn) Jim Barr was clutch in this game delivering 2, 2out, 2 run scoring hits. Tim Wilson left for the day after this game, leaving us with 11.

vs. Gotcha

Win

6-5

A second low scoring afair... Teams moved over to Field #4, where the winds kept everything down and in. Cruisers built a 3-1 lead through 5 innings... and took a 6-2 lead into the top of the 7th... Gotcha rallied for a few runs, but fell short. Nick Cantu snagged a ball down the line to end the game. Dana Oviett left after this game leaving us with 10.

vs. Riptide

Win

19-8

Grudge match of sorts, as we we're looking for some redemption. Things started off better as we were able to plate 6 runs in the bottom of the 1st... yes 1 run more than the first time we played them... The game was tied at 6 a piece going into the bottom of the 3rd... where we exploded for 12 runs. We went on to gain a 2nd mercy win after 5 innings.

vs. Softball Club

Win

n/a

FORFEIT WIN... here WAS the scoop: Tough game, as the outfielders were just beat. With no subs, playing back-to-back-to-back-to-back games we looked a bit sluggish. Softball Club jumped out to a big 18-3 lead through 3 and a half. Cruisers need to plate one run to keep playing, and managed to push 3 across. After seeing the lead grow to 20-6, the Cruisers need to plate 5 runs to keep playing... we were able to put 6 across this time. We fought back enough to have a chance in the bottom of the 7th, down only 6... but the sticks went back to sleep. All in all, a great tournament, and a GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!!
