NOTES: Although we finished
out of the top 3, we really had a great tournament.
The team batted at a solid .546 clip on this
weekend. If we can just tune up the defenese,
things look really good for the ball club in the
future. The money went to the highest on-base
percentage. Rick Cowan had a great day in the #11
hole, giving a big boost for the bottom of the
line-up. He takes home a crisp $25. Great
all-around day for the whole team hitting wise
though... We'll win a lot of games hitting like we
did today, and playing some great defense...

GAME 1
|
|
vs. Heavy Dogs
|
Loss
|
16-7
|
|
These guys
could hit. They jumped out to a quick 10-4
lead through 3 innings. We had out chance
in the bottom of the 6th... with three
across, the bases loaded, down by 5 and
the top of the line-up up... but couldn't
produce anything. A couple errors in the
top of the 7th pretty much sealed the deal
allowing the Dogs to score four more. We
left the bases loaded in the bottom of the
6th and season... UGH.

|
GAME 2
|
|
@ Layin Pipe
|
Win
|
23-7
|
|
Things
were getting frustrating, as we scored
zero runs through four. That made 7 runs
in 11 innings thus far in the tournament.
A solo home-run got things going in the
top of the 5th. We then rattled off 10
more, to take a comanding 11-1 lead. We
plated 9 more in the top of the seventh to
seal the deal. Oviatt starred by going 4-5
with a home run and 4 RBI's.
|
|
|
GAME 3
|
|
vs. Expelled
|
Win
|
10-8
|
|
After a
two hour break, we were concerend the bats
might have cooled off. That wasn't the
case as we plated 10 runs in the first two
innigs. However, the last 4 innings we
couldn't score a lick. Great defense kept
us in this game. Expelled gave us a touch
of a scare by rallying for four runs in
the top of the 7th, but twas not to be.
Jason Sullivan starred by going 3 for 3
with a HR and 3 RBI's. The win put us at
2-1 in the round robin, qualifiying us for
the single elimn tournament...
|
|
|
GAME 4
|
|
vs. Hammered
|
Win
|
12-0
|
|
Great
defense was the key in another win. We
jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead with
consistant singles. Leading 10-0 in the
bottom of the 4th, Dana Oviatt hit a two
run scoring single that gave us a 12 run
lead. Umpire Leo Zayaz called the game on
Mercy rule... He then realized that the
mercy doesn't come into play until the 5TH
inning. So we headed on out, got two quick
outs on our side... then held Expelled
1-2-3.

|
|
GAME5
|
|
vs. Riptide
|
Loss
|
20-16
|
|
These guys
jumped all over us right from the get go.
With 2 outs and none on in the top half of
the first, the "tide' plated SEVEN RUNS.
UGH. Then put another 6 on the board in
the top of the 2nd to take an EARLY 13-0
lead. We were able to keep our composier
despite the early deficit and plate 5 runs
in the bottom of the second. 6 runs in the
bottom of the 5th got us to within 3 runs.
After the Tide put one more on the board,
the blue called 3 minutes left. With two
outs, Pat Sullivan hit a monster 3-run
homerun to get us to within two. Tim
Wilson got out on purpose to give us one
more inning. A horrific top of the 7th
killed us. There were errors all over the
place, which allowed Ripe Tide to score 6,
and take a seven run lead. We put a couple
on the board in the bottom of the 7th, but
not enough. Pat Sullivan had a nice 4-4
effort to help lead the charge.
