NOTES: In memory of the tragic occurance on
Sept 11, the Madden Cruiser squad sported LEGEND
SOFTBALL Gear. For those of you unfamiliar, many of
the players on the Cruisers also play for a team
called Legend. Their shirts (Pictured) use the
American Flag, which we found to be very
appropriate. The tournament was billed as an NSA
tounrament, but wound up becoming a SCSA tournament
in the bottom of the 1st inning. Our first game was
terrible, but we played very good in our next two
games. We fell one run short against Team Mizuno,
but we should be ready to go for the PSTS
tournament on the 29th.

GAME 1
|
|
@ No Fear
|
Loss
|
11-5
|
|
The first
game was a mess. The top half of the
inning we played assuming it was NSA
rules. The umpire then went to double
check that it was SCSA between innings,
only to find out it was. For some reason
our heads were not in this game, and all
we could manage were pop ups and soft
grounders to the 2nd baseman. No Fear went
on to an 11-6 win. The story of this game
was our .375 TEAM batting average.

GAME 2
|
|
@ Malditos
|
Win
|
24-3
|
|
After a
two hour break, and the opportunity to
take in the first quarter of the UCLA-Ohio
St. game, we came out like gangbusters.
With two outs in the top of the first we
plated eight runs. Yes, the sticks FINALLY
showed up, and we were able to do some
damage. The Malditos were able to rally
for a couple runs in the bottom of the
4th, but the 15 run mercy rule was on.
Unlike game one, our team batting average
was an astounding .725.

|
|
GAME 3
|
|
@ Team Mizuno
|
Loss
|
8-7
|
|
Our third
road game of the day turned out to be our
demise. Yes, after another two hour break
so we could catch the 4th quarter of the
UCLA/Ohio St. game, we came our ready to
play. Mizuno was a combination of HB
Smokers and Mark Chris "D" softball
teams... so they came out with some
skillz. We were able to build a 4-1 lead
through two innings. Two big line-outs in
the 2nd prevent what could have been a
huge inning. Tim "Show" wilson allowed a
couple runs to come across in the bottom
of the third as he misplayed a fly ball to
right center. TSK TSK. With the score
being 6-3 going into the bottom of the
5th, another tough play did us in. With
two outs, an HB Smoker player came up and
DRILLED a ball to LCF. It was a well hit
ball, but normally one that our RCF snags.
It got by D. Lorati, and Mizuno plated 5
runs after that. That proved to be the
nail in the offin as the Cruisers could
only plate one run the rest of the way,
and went home with an 8-7 loss.
