NOTES: UGH. Only word that really sums it
up. With many of the seasoned players unavailable
to play, the Cruisers dug into their extensive
collection of options and brought in four stellar
new faces. Scott Shumaker, Mike Beltran, Jerry
Jornadal and Rick Flores came out and all had
stellar days. Our defense turned out to be the
Achilles heal as we struggled a bit at times,
keeping us at bay. The sticks were pretty good
today as we batter close to .600 in our first two
games. Soon enough we will find our way back into
the winners' circle. Soon enough... Tim Wilson's
nickname has been amended to "NO SHOW" after his
suspect defense and untimely bases loaded outs set
the team back. "I've set a high level for myself.
I'm willing to take the heat when I lead the team
in RBI's and come in with a .583 OB%. I've set the
bar high for good reason. I'll be back next time."
Said Wilson.

GAME 1
|
|
vs. Beer for
Breakfast
|
Loss
|
21-17
|
|
Tale of
two halfs. Beer For Breakfast was
advertised as a league night team from the
Yard. Quite a league night team indeed as
the powered the ball to all fields and
took an 18-3 lead through four and half
innings. OUCH. The seconds half of the
game, came in the bottom of the 4th were
the Cruisers crawled back into the game
with a six run inning. With five minutes
left in the bottom of the 6th, we cut a
21-10 lead down to 21-17. BfB was using
som obvious delay tactcis which might have
scored us some browny points with the
ump... as he gave us 45 seconds with 2
outs. We had Shumaker run into an out to
keep it alive. It was not to be as Dan
Romero lined out, and Tim Wilson Grounded
out to end the game with two runners on.
Off to the losers bracket... UGH.

GAME 2
|
|
vs. Team Malba
|
Win
|
18-3
|
|
This team
booted us from our last "E" NSA tournament
at the yard a couple months back. Twas not
to be on this day, as our hot sticks from
the first game carried into this game. Tim
Wilson padded his stats with a big four
for four game, and four RBI's. The team's
average actually fell a bit in this game
from the first (.595 to .586) but still a
great game. Rick Flores left for the day
after this game.

|
GAME 3
|
|
vs. Heroes
|
Loss
|
19-6
|
|
Game
didn't seem as bad as the score. A very
frustarting game to say the least. We
jumped out to a 5-3 lead thorugh one
inning, however Tim Wilson left the bases
loaded. Heroes got hot, as we cooled off
and built a 12-5 lead through four. Again,
after loading the bases with one out Tim
Wilson ended the rally with a 6-4-3 double
play. Six stranded. The Heros' took
advantage of our missed opportunities and
put a seven spot on the board to take a 13
run lead. With a 12 run mercy after four,
we needed to score two... and didn't. So
it goes.
