COED
CRUISERS RETURN
December 9, 2006
TUSTIN CA - The last time
the Coed Cruisers stepped on the field,
they walked off champions. With all the
gals on the team popping out babies, the
team was forced to "shut it down". This
past fall, the 'ettes returned to the ball
park, albeit a slightly ammended version.
Amy Romero was the only returning player.
Michelle Gonzalez, Leeann Gonzalez both
wanted to play, but had prior commitments.
Sheryl Anderson was busy coaching. Amanda
Wonderlick was holding true to her
retirement and Marci Mueller was still
living in Sparks Nevada.
Despite
the adversity, the team put together a 8-2
record losing to the league champion
twice. Both times, the Cruisers we're
short a couple players, but hung in.
The team
is looking to get back on the horse in
spring, bringing back the core that found
so much success. Special honors to Dan
Romero, who finished the season 22-24.
What a champ.
IT'S
ALL ABOUT THE BLING
December 3, 2003
ORANGE, CA - With the pennant already
locked up, the Cruisers were merely
playing for pride on this night. And oh,
what pride they had. The team had to roll
without three regulars as Jimmy Oakden,
Tyson Mueller and Bruce Wondelrick were
all unavailable. However, in a rare twist,
the team did have all five gals? Odd. Russ
Robertson came out to toss the rock, as
the Cruisers went with three outfielders.
Things
started out warm and fuzzy as the Cruisers
took an 8-0 lead through inning one. This
lead was short lived as "Out for Laughs"
tied it all up at 16-16 after three
innings. The game was back and fourth from
there. The error plagued game (from both
sides) reminded all of the rec league days
of past...
Russ
Robertson came up with the bases loaded
and no outs in the bottom of the 5th. The
Cruisers were leading 22-21 at the time,
and BOOM!! The blue calls the game on
time. "Nothing blows worse than standing
in the box before the pitcher tosses the
rock... and the blue calls time. What a
buzz kill." said Robertson. Nick "Sweet
D*ck N*gga" Cantu was quoted as saying. "I
like my new nickname."
Special
Kudos goes out to Sheryl Anderson who was
4-5 with a double, triple and 3 RBI.

COED
CRUISERS BATTLE IN BIG BEAR!
September 2,
2002
BIG BEAR CITY, CA
- For the second year in a
row, the Coed Cruisers headed out to Big
Bear City for a Labor Day softball
tournament. Last year, the team placed
third with a 3-1 record in AmCom's Big
Bear tournament. This year, the team was
looking to obtain the Labor Day Crown!

The
team drew Winning Ugly, a local Big Bear
team that the Cruisers had faced before.
Winning Ugly had fine tuned their team,
and were a level better than what the
Cruisers remebered before. None-the-less,
the Coed Cruisers started off well,
jumping out to a 14-4 lead through 2 and
1/2 innings. New comer, Chad Krieg hit an
opposite field three-run home-run to
highlight the scoring. Bruce Wonderlick
added a two-run homerun himself.
Going
into the bottom of the 4th, the Cruisers
held a 16-7 lead. Winning Ugly turned on
the afterburners and plated nine big runs
to tie the game. With 10 minutes left in
the game, the Cruisers plated four runs in
the top of the 5th to take the 20-16 lead.
However, Winning Ugly was able to plate
seven runs, and allow the time to run out
to end the game. "This was one of those
games were whomever batted last, was gonna
win. Homefield was crucial," said manager
Dan Romero. Despite batting .677 as a team
in the game, the Cruisers went on to the
losers bracket, and had a long road to the
finals. Amy Romero was 2-2 with 2
Sacrafice flys and 2 RBI's in the
game.
